If you’ve been hanging around Duplicati for a quite a while, you will be glad to know that it has recently been updated to version 1.2, which offers a host of new features and improvements for creating data backups. For those who never tried it before, it provides one of the easiest solution to backup your most precious data in the form of simple wizard. You just have to go through the wizard steps to create and schedule backup job according to your requirements.

Talking about the improvements, the most significant ones are volume size handling, interactive pause and stop controls, SSH support, and importantly you can now backup multiple folders seamlessly. Other worthwhile back-end features are 256 bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) compatible encryption, backup speed improvements, efficient memory usage, optimized performance for files larger than 2GB, and live backup job success and error notifications. In short, Duplicati 1.2 is more secured, interactive, and vocal than previous version. Improved speed and less consumption of memory resources will let you perform backup operations swiftly without hogging down your system resources.

According to the official community, the S3 command line syntax has also been changed from “s3://bucket.s3.amazonaws.com/folder” and “s3://s3.amazonaws.com/bucket/folder” to “s3://bucket/folder”. Using the old command will send a deprecation warning. Nevertheless, if you’ve been upgraded to the GUI version, you will not be affected by these changes.
